A group of women rolling through Tulsa want to see more breakthroughs in breast cancer treatments. The News On 6’s Ashli Sims reports they call themselves divas, and they're riding for a cure. Their slogan, Loud Pipes Save Lives!

The Divas For A Cure biker babes are burning rubber across the country, logging about 500 miles a day, but it's not just the joy of the ride that's driving them.

"Divas For A Cure is a California-based nonprofit organization and we're riding across country for breast cancer awareness," Divas For A Cure founder Jan “Sunny” Emanuel said.

Jan Emanuel is herself a breast cancer survivor. She says when she was sick all she wanted was to be well enough to get back on her bike. But it was the death of her aunt from breast cancer that inspired her to hit the road.

"The type of cancer she had was curable, it was actually curable. Had she caught it in the early stages as opposed to what it had advanced to we'd have her here today. So I wanted to do the ride in honor of her," Emanuel said.

Emanuel is joined by two other lady bikers, one a Tulsa native, and escorted by the Buffalo Soldier club to make sure the ladies reach their destination safely.

"Man it's amazing. We have made every stop, but we got in kinds of weather, 110 degrees, raining, but we kept rolling,” AJ Jemison with Divas For A Cure said. “That's what we do, we're divas."

Tulsa native AJ Jemison says her hometown wasn't originally on the list of stops, but she had to make the detour.

"My mom and my dad have never seen me ride my bike, so I was like guys can we take an extra 200 miles and stop through Tulsa? So we detoured and change the path and here we are," said Jemison.

Jemison and Emanuel say the bikes and their entourage attract a lot of attention. And they hope their message will sink in and save lives.

The divas are riding about 6,200 miles in 20 days. Last year, they raised $25,000 for breast cancer research. So far this year they've already raised more than $30,000.
