RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (AP) -- Mandy Nightingale of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, advances to the finals in water skiing today in the Pan American Games in Brazil.

Nightingale will be the second seed in the finals of the women's slalom event, behind fellow American Regina Jaquess of Suwanee, Georgia.

The 27-year-old Nightingale starred in basketball for Sapulpa High School in the late 1990s, earning co-Tulsa metro player of the year honors in 1998. She went on to play college basketball at Colorado and for four seasons in the WNBA.
