Dozens of young Tulsa professionals got a sneak peak inside the BOK Center on Thursday. They toured the facility and our cameras were there. News On 6 anchor Latoya Silmon reports the arena will not be ready until September of 2008, but you won't have to wait that long to see what's inside.
Until now the metal shell of the BOK Center is all most people have seen. On Thursday we got a look inside.
“There's nothing alike in this building. I mean it's every corner, every radius is different,†said Bart Boatright, Tulsa Vision Builders Project Director.
The multi-million dollar project is still a work in progress, but those who got to see it up close and personal say the vision is clear, and they like what they see.
“You know it's amazing! The views of downtown that are going to remain once the glass structure is in place are just amazing,†Tulsa Young Professionals Chairman Joshua Roby said. “The views, the sight lines inside are really great. It's so neat to be a part of something that's coming up from right out of the ground.â€
But it's more than eye candy.
“It truly can change the whole foot print of what happens downtown,†Boatright said.
Tulsa's young professionals say they're counting on it.
“We believe that the Vision 2025 package what's going on with that, including the BOK Events Center, will help us retract and attain, and so our membership has many, many questions about the BOK Center,†said Roby.
That will hopefully serve as a foundation for a brighter future.
“As the BOK events opens and begins to attract events, whether it's sports events with the NCAA Tournament, or the 66ers, or Talons, or concerts, those are events young professionals will enjoy,†Roby said.
The BOK Center is also expected to attract more Hotels and restaurants to Tulsa.
