MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- A Bluejacket man faces up to seven months in prison after pleading guilty to cashing his dead father's Veterans Affairs benefit checks. Clint Lee Hider pleaded guilty to the crime Thursday in federal court in Muskogee.

The 39-year-old held a joint checking account with his father. Prosecutors say the father's VA checks went directly into the account, even after his death in June 2004.

Hider admitted removing more than $8,200 in benefit payments.
