WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- The Williams sisters pulled out of doubles at Wimbledon on Wednesday after Serena lost her singles quarterfinal against Justine Henin.

Serena Williams strained her left calf and also hurt her left thumb during her fourth-round singles victory Monday.

"I've never experienced that much pain," she said Wednesday, referring to the calf injury.

They were supposed to meet Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual in the second round of doubles.

The siblings hadn't played doubles together at any tournament since Wimbledon in 2003. They've won six Grand Slam doubles titles, including Wimbledon in 2000 and 2002.
