OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A Russian father's journey to Oklahoma to save his son is finally over.
Sabit Kurbanov flew back to Moscow Friday with the remains of his 16-year-old son, David.
Kurbanov brought his son to Oklahoma City in October for surgery at St. Anthony Hospital to remove a tumor growing out of his brain stem.
But the boy slipped into a coma after surgery and never recovered. Doctors declared him brain dead on November 27th, but David remained on life support for nearly seven months at the insistence of his father, who believed he still would recover.
David officially was declared dead June 20th after his heart stopped beating.
A small memorial service was held in Oklahoma City June 22nd.
