Loaded Pistol Found In Jail Cell

ADA, Okla. (AP) -- A loaded 9-millimeter handgun has been found in the Pontotoc County jail cell of a suspected killer and a suspected child molester. Undersheriff Joe Glover says the gun was found during an unannounced search. Authorities have arrested two women, including the girlfriend of inmate Richard Goodman in the case.

Glover says Goodman made arrangements with his 19-year-old girlfriend Victoria Pipestem to climb to the jail's roof and drop the pistol into a vent.

Glover says inmate Notice Burns then retrieved the gun and took it to the cell.

Glover says the vent was for a gas water heater and was never closed after it was replaced by an electric heater. He says the vent is now filled in with 20 inches of reinforced concrete.
