EDMOND, Okla. (AP) An economics professor at the University of Central Oklahoma is being honored as the state's professor of the year.

Mickey Hepner has taught at the university in Edmond for nearly seven years.

UCO College of Business Administration Dean Mike Shirley says he nominated Hepner because of his commitment to teaching and his success in the classroom.

The award is given by the U.S. Professor of the Year program, which is sponsored by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
