OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Filing opens tomorrow for candidates in Oklahoma's 2008 Presidential Primary.
The election is scheduled on February 5th. A proposal to move the primary to January 29th was rejected by the Legislature last spring.
Officials with both the Republican and Democratic parties in Oklahoma were told the state could lose delegates to the national convention if the primary date was moved.
State Election Board Secretary Mike Clingman says the primary was changed for the 2004 election from March to February 3rd. Clingman says about 21% of the state's registered voters cast ballots in the 2004 primary, up from just 14% in 2000.
Candidates will file their papers at the election board office at the state Capitol. Filing ends on Wednesday.
