Washington Delayed Getting To Hawaii For Game

HONOLULU (AP) - The Washington football team's chartered flight to Honolulu for a game against Hawaii was delayed in Seattle for more than five hours because of mechanical problems. The Huskies (4-8), who faced the No. 11 Warriors (11-0) on Saturday night, were scheduled to arrive here Friday afternoon, but didn't land until about 10 p.m. after being put aboard another ATA Airlines aircraft.

The team checked into its hotel about an hour later, 14 hours after leaving campus.

Hawaii opponents usually arrive on Thursday, but Washington chose to leave on Friday and stay until Monday to give the players extra time to enjoy the islands after the game.
