Tulsa’s new downtown arena design was unveiled Wednesday. The design was first unveiled during a meeting of Tulsa's Downtown Rotary Club and now the rest of the public is getting a close up look.
A public display of the model and photographs of the arena design were set up at the Tulsa’s Mayo Hotel.
It's what the architect called a direction - not the final design, but very likely a close image of how it will appear. The design features towering walls of glass that spiral out to the street on two sides - with the main entrance facing 3rd and Denver.
It's from the mind of one of the world's top architects - Cesar Pelli. "One can see blossoms of flowers opening, all announcing a better future, which is what I think downtown Tulsa is going to have."
And that's of course the biggest question about the arena - can it attract big events and be enough to fuel a revitalization of downtown.
