PURCELL, Okla. (AP) _ A University of Oklahoma flight student and his instructor walked away from an emergency landing north of Purcell.
Flight instructor Coy Reed and Michael Dow, a junior from Norman, were practicing routine touch and go procedures yesterday in a single-engine plane.
McClain County detectives say Dow was at the controls attempting to gain altitude when the plane stalled. Reed took control and executed a forced landing.
They landed in an open field about one mile north of the Purcell Municipal Airport. Authorities say damage to the plane was minimal.
O-U officials and investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board were looking into why the plane engine stalled.
