OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says an Oklahoma City construction company will pay $15,000 to a deaf welder it refused to hire.

The EEOC says All Steel Construction will pay the money to Jeffrey Alderette because it refused to hire him after learning he's deaf.

The EEOC says All Steel will also adopt an anti-discrimination policy and train managers and employees about the American with Disabilities Act.

The EEOC also says it will monitor All Steel's hiring practices regarding deaf applicants.
