BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) _ Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Monday that sales at stores open at least year should grow 2 to 4 percent in September, despite some sluggishness caused by Hurricane Frances.
The world's largest retailer said business picked up at the more than 150 stores affected by the hurricane last week after the storm passed.
Sales remained strong in the East and Northeast, with back-to-school needs driving sales. Wal-Mart said in its weekly sales update that the hurricanes that hit Florida only affect the timing of sales and don't tend to lower final sales figures.
