SEOUL, South Korea (AP) _ Ernie Els shot a 3-under-par 69 to trail Terry Pilkadaris of Australia by one stroke after the second round of the Korean Open on Friday.

Els, ranked No. 3 in the world, had an eagle, three birdies and two bogeys on the second day of the Asian Tour event at the 7,047-yard Woo Jung Hills Country Club in Cheonan, south of Seoul.

Seeking his fourth title of the year, the South African is at 4-under-par 140 for the tournament, a shot behind Pilkadaris, who also shot 69 Friday. The Australian rolled in three long birdies, including a 50-footer on No. 17, his eighth hole of the day after starting on the 10th.

Els eagled the par-5 11th hole.

``My eight iron to 2 feet on 11 was my hole of the day. The drive was 340 yards, but it's downhill though,'' Els said. ``I'm not John Daly!''

First round leader Hendrik Buhrmann of South Africa, shot a 74 to fall three back, tied with American Edward Loar.

Choi Sang-ho of South Korea shot a 72 and tied fifth place with amateur Kang Sung-hoon and Australian Richard Moir.
