Smooth start for Tulsa Public Schools

Tulsa area students are now all back in class. Tulsa Public Schools are one of the last districts to return to the classroom.

Tulsa officials say the first day Tuesday got off to a smooth start. Many students will see several changes this fall, the biggest being 400 new teachers to help bring student to teacher ratios back down after years of cutting because of budget constraints.

Wright Elementary School was due for a touch-up, returning students saw renovations inside, such as a new roof, ceiling tiles and windows.

Students across the district were also now allowed to wear flip-flops to class.
