OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ A monthly survey of business conditions indicates the economy is slowing in Oklahoma, but still expanding.

The survey by Creighton University economics professor Ernie Goss shows the overall business index in Oklahoma in August at 55-point-two, down from 56 in July.

An index above 50 indicates an expanding economy.

Goss conducts the survey in nine Midwestern states, Nebraska, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.

The business index for the nine-state region in August is 61-point-three, down from 64-point-two in July.

Goss says higher prices for oil, natural gas and other raw materials are the main reasons for the slowdown.
