A major horse competition that will bring in people from across the country has smaller shows concerned.
The News on 6 first told you the Arabian Horse Association will hold its national competition at Expo Square. But trainers like Grace Jacubus say increased growth at the fairgrounds is making it increasingly difficult to get a confirmed date for smaller shows.
She says clubs like the Morgan Horse Association are left dangling when they ask to reserve a spot, just in case Expo Square can book a bigger event. That makes some local owners unable to plan their shows. "The exhibitors and trainers have to know what their schedule's gonna be for the next year, showing horses is not an inexpensive sport and it's a business to a lot of people around here."
Expo Square officials say they can't afford to say no to a national event. They say they'll work with local shows to help them find dates that work for everyone.
