The West Nile virus has claimed its first victim this year in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Department of Health says a 71 year old man from Nowata County died from the mosquito borne disease.

Six people have tested positive for West Nile virus in Oklahoma so far.

Of those six, three tested positive for Saint Louis encephalitis, a cousin of the West Nile virus.
