A former Tulsa Public School employee has been charged with abusing a teenage student who has cerebral palsy.

Prosecutors say Johnnie Mae Norman whipped a 16-year-old girl with a belt May 25th at the Tulsa High School for Science and Technology. An arrest warrant has been issued for Norman.

A spokesman for Tulsa Public Schools says Norman was a teacher's assistant, and is not currently on the payroll.
