As Tulsa area children enter the new school year, a statewide coalition targeting child obesity is announcing the next phase of its public awareness campaign.

The Oklahoma Fit Kids Coalition has teamed up with the Tulsa World for a hard-hitting advertising campaign.

The newspaper will run a series of Fit Kids ads beginning in August and scheduled to run through the fall semester. Earlier this year, Governor Brad Henry signed into legislation State bill 1627, in an effort to get Oklahoma public schools involved in fighting childhood obesity.
