TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Shares of Williams Companies rose Thursday.

Williams announced Wednesday night that it had closed sales of three natural gas plants to Inter Pipeline Fund. The plants sold for $536-million in cash.

This was Williams' last major sale of assets. In the past two years, the company has transformed itself from a fully integrated, diversified energy company to a company focusing on finding, producing, transporting and processing natural gas.

Williams narrowly avoided bankruptcy in August 2002.
