ENID, Okla. (AP) -- Salvation Army workers got a surprise when they opened a drop box.
Along with the usual donation of clothing, they found a puppy when they opened the box Monday.
Officials say the German shepherd mix is lucky Monday was a mild day.
Salvation Army Major Jim Edmonds says temperatures inside the box can easily surpass 100 degrees and could've killed the dog. Edmonds also says several Salvation Army employees are interested in adopting the puppy.
This isn't the first time a live animal has been left in the drop box, a kitten was found in the box last year, but ran away when the box was opened.
