(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma Department of Public Safety officials say they are unsure what effect digital driver's licenses are having on crime.
Oklahoma adopted digital driver's licenses about a year ago.
The licenses include finger imaging and digital photos and were aimed at preventing identity theft and driver's license forgeries.
Administrative officer Jeff Hankins says officials will have to wait for statistics before they can analyze the impact of the new licenses.
Hankins says several people have been caught trying to pose as another individual who took the driver's license test.
The new digital imaging process catches those types of fraud attempts between the examiner's office and tag agencies.
He says the old system of film processing did not allow the department to catch such fraud as easily.
