(Little Rock-AP) -- Arkansas' two-year colleges plan a pilot program to train practical nurses to become registered nurses. The Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board must approve the program before it can be finalized. The state Board of Nursing says the program will help address the national and state nursing shortage. The program will allow students to earn degrees in a three-semester, twelve-month format. Classes will be delivered by interactive video and online, and clinicals will be scheduled in the evenings and on weekends.
