EDMOND, Okla. (AP) _ An explosion in an electrical room damaged the library at the University of Central Oklahoma, but caused no injuries a university spokesman said.

The building was evacuated after the blast about 9 a.m. Tuesday and officials were trying to determine the cause.

``We have a contractor there currently checking to see what the problem might have been and what we need to do to fix it,'' UCO spokesman Charlie Johnson said Tuesday afternoon.

The explosion was at first thought to be an electrical transformer outside the library on the west side of campus, but it was determined the blast came from inside an electrical room inside the building, Johnson said.

The blast blew open two locked doors, Johnson said.

``Ceiling tiles were damaged and there is quite a bit of smoke and soot, and there are probably some carpet problems,'' Johnson said.

The library was closed for the remainder of the day Tuesday and might not reopen until Wednesday afternoon, Johnson said.
