(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Five Democrats, four Republicans and one independent are running for the U-S House seat that Don Nickles is leaving after 24 years.
On the Republican side, former Oklahoma City Mayor Kirk Humphreys, former U-S Representative Tom Coburn and Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Bob Anthony want Nickles' spot. They've already begun running broadcast commercials.
U-S Representative Brad Carson of Claremore is favored among the Democrats. The Democratic pool also includes state Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher, who faces felony charges related to running an education program for insurance agents and illegally operating a charity.
The independent in the race is Sheila Bilyeu, who was born in Oklahoma but has been living in Virginia.
