OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An Arkansas man faces federal charges in connection with a bank robbery in Mustang.
A Canadian County sheriff's deputy took Gregory Alexander Gomez into custody without incident after pulling him over south of Interstate 40 near Mustang Monday afternoon, the FBI reported.
Gomez's vehicle matched the description of a car that was stolen from the branch manager of Canadian State Bank, agents said.
A white male, posing as a computer repairman, walked into the bank around 1:50 p.m. and asked to see the branch manager. After entering the office, he told the manager that the bank was being robbed and he demanded money.
The robber had his hand in his waistband, implying he had a gun, the FBI said.
After gathering the money, the robber said his toolbox contained a bomb, as did a white van across the street. The robber said a man in the van across the street would detonate both bombs if police were called.
He demanded the manager's keys and fled in the vehicle.
The reserve deputy recognized the vehicle and followed it as it headed west in I-40, the FBI said.
When the car left I-40 at the U.S. Highway 81 exit and headed south, the deputy pulled him over.
Oklahoma City police found that neither the toolbox nor the van contained bombs.
The van is believed to have been stolen from Arkansas, authorities said.
