(Oklahoma City-AP) -- House members Thursday voted to kill a bill that would have lowered penalties for cockfighting in the state.

Lawmakers voted 56-to-38 against the cockfighting bill, which passed the Senate last week.

The House also voted against sending the bill to a conference committee for further work, effectively killing it for the session.
