(San Antonio-AP) -- Tens of thousands of SBC Communications workers, including about 2,500 in Oklahoma, are wrapping up their strike Monday.
The union workers belong to the Communications Workers of America and plan to end their four-day strike after midnight.
They're lobbying for higher medical co-payments and job security in a new contract.
Contract negotiations continued today at four sites: Austin, Texas; Chicago; New Haven, Connecticut; and Pleasanton, California.
SBC spokesman Walt Sharp says progress is being made, but he wouldn't discuss whether breakthroughs might be near.
He says SBC plans to welcome workers when the strike ends.
CWA official Dennis Trainor says many union workers aren't happy about returning without a contract.
