Putting an end to violence when Tulsa's downtown bars shut down. Around 2 AM Friday, Tulsa Police officers were called to the "Eclipse Club" on a report of an assault. Police responded in force, because of the large crowd.
Officers say a woman had been assaulted. One person was taken into custody. We’re told the woman will be okay.
Scenes like that are nothing new in the city's downtown club district. It happens almost every week. So Thursday night for the first time, the city called in extra officers to curb those disturbances.
They're stopping vehicles for offenses such as driving without headlights and in other cases drinking and driving. The driver of a BMW was taken into custody for 12 outstanding warrants. A woman in the car was arrested for drug possession.
Tulsa Police say the stepped up patrols will continue to ensure everyone's safety.
