A Creek County funeral operator accused of taking two rings from a deceased woman has been sentenced to a year in prison.

James Michael Owen was also ordered to pay more than $1,800 in fines and restitution. Owen was originally charged with a felony count of knowingly concealing stolen property.

After the woman's family complained that the rings were missing, Owen said he exhumed the body so he could return the rings.
