(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A new petition drive to protect Oklahomans' right to fish, hunt or participate in other animal sports could have an effect on the state's cockfighting ban.
The International Animal Sports Union filed notice Monday with the secretary of state to circulate an initiative petition to protect animal sports.
The members who filed the petition said they don't know what effect it would have on the cockfighting ban.
Janet Halliburton led the petition drive to make cockfighting illegal. She says if the new petition drive is successful, it could create new legal challenges to the cockfighting ban.
The proposed ballot title filed with the secretary of state includes hunting, fishing, trapping and "any events that deal with livestock, fowl, birds, fish or other animals."
