The first public hearing of a proposed annexation plan by the city of Tulsa will be held tonight.
The city of Tulsa hopes to annex 23 square-miles between Harvard and Memorial, from 56th Street North to 126th Street North. Property owners from Sperry, Owasso and Collinsville say they've been told, their property values will go down, while their property taxes go up.
Some wonder how the annexation would affect emergency services. Tulsa County resident Deanna Oakley: "We would be covered by the city police instead of the county sheriff's and we feel like both are stretched to the maximum right now with what they have to cover in the city of Tulsa that the coverage out here would be very lax."
City officials say Tulsa's Police and Fire "can" handle the larger area. And the annexation will help the city attract more business and industry.
The hearing takes place at 7 PM at the Maranatha Baptist Temple at 12602 North Memorial.
