Tulsa area teachers and principals are a bit more media savvy. Safe Schools Oklahoma taught teachers, administrators, counselors and parents how to work with the media in a school crisis.

Derinda Lowe with the Safe and Drug Free Schools Initiative: "The media can be very helpful in an emergency. They can disseminate information quickly and to alot of people.”

Local media members and members from Tulsa's Police and fire departments also took part Tuesday.

Safe Schools Oklahoma is a project of the governor's initiative on safe and drug-free schools.
