(Washington-AP) -- Oklahoma would receive less money than it contributes in federal fuel taxes under a transportation bill that has emerged from a US House committee.
The bill would keep Oklahoma's guaranteed share of federal funds at 90 1/2 cents for every dollar it generates in tax revenue.
The Senate's version of the bill has Oklahoma receiving 95 cents for every dollar of revenue it generates. U-S Senator Jim Inhofe has helped Oklahoma get additional funding in that bill.
But President Bush has threatened to veto the Senate bill.
Inhofe chairs the committee that will iron out differences between the bills. He says he's in a unique position to ensure Oklahoma receives the money it needs for important projects.
