A new franchise is getting ready to "shake" up the fast food scene in Tulsa.

Steak N' Shake is preparing to open its first-ever restaurant in Oklahoma. News on 6 business reporter Steve says some may not have heard of Steak N' Shake, but it's a big chain with more than 400 restaurants in 19 states. For those who "have" heard of it, Steak N' Shake often generates a Krispy Kreme level of excitement and loyalty.

Most of the attention goes to their signature shakes and ice cream, but they have a wide range of burgers and sandwiches too. They also have a wait-staff, which is a little unusual for a fast-food place.

As we said, they've never had a franchise in Oklahoma before. The first one is expected to open by the end of summer. The exact location has not been revealed, but they gave some strong hints that it will be in the area of 71st street and US Highway 169.

They plan to open a second restaurant in the summer of 2005. Ultimately, they say they plan to have up to five franchises in the Tulsa metro area.
