Joe Persechina singled home Jeff Larish in the fifth inning and two Arizona State pitchers shut down Oklahoma State the rest of the way in a 3-to-2 win last night.
The Cowboys had the potential winning run on second when Rusty Ryal popped out to end the game.
Quentin Andes pitched three scoreless innings to pick up the win, and Pat Bresnehan yielded a single and double with two outs in the ninth before picking up his fifth save.
Oklahoma State took at 2-to-1 lead in the third when Josh Fields and Jason Jaramillo had back-to-back R-B-I singles.
But the fifth-ranked Sun Devils got R-B-I singles from Zechry Zinicola and Persechina to regain the lead in the fifth.
Daniel Rew gave up three earned runs in six-and-two-thirds innings to take the loss.
