(Lawton-AP) -- A Comanche man who was shot during a shootout with police in Stephens County nearly two weeks ago has died.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says Kyle Wood died Tuesday of wounds he suffered February 13th.

Wood was suspected of killing Jeremiah Battiest of Marlow and dumping his body in Stephens County.

Investigators believe Wood first beat his wife, then forced her into a car with Wood and Battiest. Authorities say Battiest was shot by Wood while the woman drove.

Police say Wood then stole a pickup truck at gunpoint in Wynnewood and lead police on a chase before stopping and getting out of the truck with a rifle.

Wood was then shot by officers.

Assistant Stephens County District Attorney Jerry Herberger says the investigation is complete and the case is now closed.
