The odds are about 5,500 to 1, pretty good odds for a nationwide contest giving away new cars.
An Oklahoma woman is the latest winner and the News on 6's Rick Wells talked to her Wednesday as she took a look at her new set of wheels. OnStar voice: "Now get ready to play GM Hot Button."
GM's running a contest, push the OnStar button; win a car, 1,000 cars in 56 days. Most of us have never known anyone who won something as big a car. Well now we do, she is Sue Robyler and she's very happy. "It's been pretty nice; I've never won anything like this." She lives up near Grand Lake and came to Suburban Chevrolet in Claremore, because a neighbor had traded in a car and she thought she's like to buy it.
Suburban Chevrolet General Manage Keith Haney: "She got all the paperwork and everything was fine and dandy. While she was waiting to go in the business office the salesperson said lets just see if you win a car.†So she pushed the OnStar button, answered a couple of questions. Finally the OnStar operator came back on and asked her a question. Robyler: "She said are you setting' down, are you setting down. I said yes. She says well, you just won a new car.†She thought it might be a joke, but it wasn't. What she won, a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero, about $21,000 worth of car.
Several of her friends came with her to check out her new ride, everyone saw her name on the building but her. Robyler: "I walked out front and saw that clear across the front of the building, and I about died." Her good friend Ivagene Dresher from Sand Springs hoped that OnStar luck would last but. OnStar operator: "I'm sorry you're not a winner in our game today." Ah well, she can get a ride in her friend's new car.
The Hot Button contest has three more days to run. According to the folks at General Motors there are still more than one hundred cars and trucks out there to be won.
