Oklahoma State's Lucas, Kansas State's Massey earn Big 12 honors

DALLAS (AP) _ Oklahoma State's John Lucas averaged 24 points in two road victories last week to earn Big 12 player of the week honors for the second time this season.

In the Cowboys' 91-79 win at Texas A&M, Lucas tied his career high with 27 points on 7-of-10 shooting. He also scored 21 points in the Cowboys' 88-67 win at Iowa State last week. The junior guard ranks second in the league in scoring, at 17.5 points per game in Big 12 contests.

Leading Kansas State in several statistical categories, Jeremiah Massey was named newcomer of the week.

The freshman forward from Detroit, Mich., leads the Wildcats in scoring, rebounding and double-doubles . In the Kansas State's 78-61 win over Nebraska last week, Massey scored a career-best 24 points with five rebounds. Massey also went 8-of-9 from the free throw line in an 82-81 loss at Colorado.
