(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The deadline is Monday for artists who want to apply for the Nature Conservancy's ``Spirit of the Buffalo'' program.

Artists are to submit their design plans to decorate one of about 100 full-size buffaloes that are made of fiberglass. The buffaloes will then be displayed across the state.

Businesses, corporations and individuals are being asked to sponsor the buffaloes and the artists will be paid one-thousand dollars.

The remainder of the sponsorship money goes to the Nature Conservancy to help support its conservation efforts in Oklahoma.
