The Commander of Operation Iraqi Freedom returned to his Oklahoma roots Wednesday.

Four-star General Tommy Franks spoke in downtown Tulsa Wednesday morning about the global war on terrorism. More than 1,000 people filed in to the Tulsa Performing Arts Center to hear the general speak.

Born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, General Franks has served in the military for 38 years. He led US troops into battle in both Afghanistan and Iraq, before retiring last August.

He says the US is winning the war on terror, but that war is not over. "These are tough times and I think its healthy for America to remind herself from time to time how we felt on 12th of September."
