(McAlester-AP) -- Members of three police tactical teams spent part of the weekend training at the Pittsburg County Courthouse.
The start of bombing conspirator Terry Nichols' murder trial is just more than a month away and police say they want to be ready.
McAlester police Sergeant Martin Stites says McAlester police were joined by officers from Muskogee and Tulsa to familiarize themselves with the inside and outside of the courthouse.
Stites says the pending Nichols trial isn't the only reason for the training, but the agencies are trying to be proactive in case anyone should try to take over the courthouse.
Nichols' trial on 161 state murder charges for his role in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing starts March 1st. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty
