If you are looking for a fun event in Tulsa this weekend you might want to stop by Slot Cars International at 8151 E. 21st St.
Competitors from as far away as Brazil and Canada are bringing their 1/24 scale racing machines to town for the two-day Okie Open race event.
The cars race on an eight-lane track and can go over 100 m.p.h. and generate up to 160,000 r.p.m.
The big race is Sunday evening and already one world record has been broken. The cars can cost up to $500 and are built by the owners themselves.
The National Finals are an eleven-day event that will be held in Tulsa the last week in July and the first week of August.
This weekend’s event is free and open to the public. The big race starts about 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
