(Valliant-AP) -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says speed is the cause of a deadly car crash Tuesday morning in McCurtain County.

Troopers say Joseph Todd Brownfield of Valliant died in the crash on a county road just north of Valliant about 5 Tuesday morning.

Troopers say the car Brownfield was driving ran off the road and hit an embankment. Brownfield wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car when it hit the embankment.
