(Tipton-AP) -- Much of the southwest Oklahoma town of Tipton is without water and the school is closed today because of a broken water main.

Tipton Children's Home director John Osbourne says water wells are being used for the home's facilities and bottled water for drinking and cooking.

Osbourne says the water department tells him they hope to have the water line repaired today.

Tipton is in Tillman County, southeast of Altus.
