(Sallisaw-AP) -- Jury selection begins Monday in the retrial of a Sequoyah County man accused of shooting an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper to death.
Kenneth Eugene Barrett is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Trooper David ``Rocky'' Eales. Eales was killed during a drug raid at Barrett's rural cabin on September 24th, 1999.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Barrett, who also faces three counts linked to shots fired at Trooper John Hamilton and two other troopers. Hamilton was injured in the shooting.
Barrett's first trial in November 2002 ended in a deadlocked jury, with 11 of 12 jurors voting for conviction.
Eales and Hamilton headed an OHP tactical team that attempted to serve a ``no-knock'' warrant to look for methamphetamine at Barrett's cabin.
