(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Governor Brad Henry and 10 other governors have sent a letter to the Department of Agriculture to say they are confident in the US beef industry.
The governors from cattle-producing states praised the department Wednesday for minimizing the effect of mad cow disease on international trade.
Henry says the Oklahoma beef supply is completely safe. He worries, though, that new federal cattle laws will hurt the state industry.
He says a new rule against humans eating cattle that can't walk and another rule changing the way beef is processed could hurt beef producers.
Oklahoma is the 5th-largest beef-producing state.
