Horse show brings worldwide contestants to state

(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Contestants from around the world are in Oklahoma City for the National Reining Horse Association Futurity and Championship show.

More than 600 horses are entered in the futurity, which is based in Oklahoma City and has been held at State Fair Park for 17 years.

Participants maneuver a predetermined pattern of movements to show the athleticism of the horse and skill of the rider.

The finals are Friday and Saturday and officials say more than $1.25-million in cash and prizes will be awarded.
